Very easy 20 minute ride by taxi, from the Center of Kathmandu.
If you have any difficulty negotiating the rate, phone or visit our Thamel Office and ask for Mrs. Rita Dulal Telephone 9841-421589 or phone our trusted regular taxi driver Ram Lama who knows the road and his mobile number is 9841833526. If you take another taxi from kathmandu be sure to
mention to the driver that Chobhar Resort is located on the road to Dakshinkali (8kms) and that our Resort is clearly
marked by three road signs:
- The first sign - near the first bus stop after passing Tribbuvan University -
indicates "Chobhar Resort-Hotel: 1 km away"
- Continuing on the same road, the second sign after the second bus stop
and after passing a beautiful pine forest, indicates "Chobhar Resort-Hotel ½ km away"
- The third sign clearly indicating "CHOBHAR VILLAGE" will be on the
right hand side of this same road to Dakshinkali. Take this turn-off (on the right hand-side) all the way up the hill, which leads you to the Village directly. We are in the center of the Village between the Buddhist Monastery and the Adinath Temple.
We would recommend you request the taxi to wait for you in Chobhar if you are simply going there to have lunch or wish to spend a leisurely one or two hours there, at the Resort. If on the other hand, you think you may wish to spend a longer period of time there, possibly to visit the Temple, Monastery, etc., or to spend the night in our Hotel, we suggest you let the taxi go. Later,
or the morning after - specially if you spent the night in our Hotel, we can call a local taxi for you, at the time of your choosing. Four taxis now regularly operate in Chobhar Village, and our Receptionist can contact any one of them by mobile phone. The taxi will arrive in a matter of minutes. The cost to you of the taxi ride from Chobhar to Kathmandu should not exceed 600 Nrs or about US$10 at the current exchange rate.
Chobhar Resort is also easily accessible by motor-bike or bicycle too.
A small "tempo" bus is available (Dakshinkali line) from Ratna Park, Sahid Gate, in Kathmandu. The cost is minimal (apx 10 rupees per person) but one has to get off at the second bus stop, right after the forest, and be ready to walk up through the forest, which is about a 15 minute walk. Halfway up
the hill, use the steps leading to the Monastery. Those same steps also take you straight to our Resort. |
